Live Facial Recognition Operation in Clapham Junction

Dear residents,

We want to update you that on Friday 22nd May 2026 our team and other local Safer Neighbourhood officers based at Lavender Hill Police Station were deployed to Clapham Junction, working alongside a specialist unit to carry out a Live Facial Recognition (LFR) operation.

Live Facial Recognition is a law enforcement technology that uses cameras and artificial intelligence to identify individuals in real time through facial analysis. This capability supports policing by locating individuals who are wanted by the police or by the courts.

The operation proved to be successful, with local officers engaging positively with members of the public throughout the day. As a result of the deployment, officers made seven arrests.
